FBC 3x3 Basketball League Official Rules

Season Starts April 10, 2026 | Fridays, 7-9 PM

Registration & Payment

Registration Period: Closed
Team Fee: $125 per player
Payment Deadline: Before first game (April 10, 2026)

Players who haven’t paid will not be allowed on the court during check-in.

Refunds: Full refund only if we cannot provide a complete division. No refunds after the first game.

Player Eligibility

Grade Divisions:
Players compete in their current grade (as of Fall 2025): 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th or 9th(15u).

Roster Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 players, maximum 5 players per team
  • All players must be in the same grade division
  • No roster changes after the first game

Verification:
Players should have proof of grade/age available if requested (report card, birth certificate, or school ID).

Game Format

Schedule:

  • 10 regular season games + playoffs
  • Every Friday, 7:00-9:00 PM
  • Check-in starts at 6:45 PM
  • 15-minute games, half-court 3×3

Scoring:

  • 1 point for baskets inside the arc
  • 2 points for baskets behind the arc
  • First team to 21 points OR most points when time expires wins

Starting Play:

  • Coin flip determines first possession
  • Ball must be checked at top of key after all dead balls
  • Must pass (not dribble) from check position

Playing Rules

Team Setup:

  • 3 players on court, up to 2 substitutes
  • Substitutions during dead balls only
  • Minimum 3 players required to start

Possession After Made Basket:

  • Defense checks the ball at the top
  • Must clear behind the arc after rebounds/steals

Shot Clock:

  • No stalling allowed
  • The referee may enforce the 30-second rule if needed

Timeouts:

  • ONE 30-second timeout per team
  • The clock does not stop
  • No timeouts in final 3 minutes

Overtime:

  • The first team to score 21 points wins

Fouls & Free Throws

Team Fouls:
  • Fouls 1-6: Change of possession
  • Fouls 7-9: 2 free throws
  • Fouls 10+: 2 free throws + possession ​
Free Throw Rules:
  • 1 free throw if fouled while shooting (inside arc)
  • 2 free throws if fouled behind the arc
  • 1 bonus free throw if fouled while making the shot
  • All free throws = 1 point ​
Jump Balls:
  • Possession goes to the defensive team

Code of Conduct

Zero Tolerance for:

  • Aggressive behavior or verbal abuse toward anyone
  • Profanity or foul language
  • Fighting (results in team disqualification)
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct

Result: Immediate ejection from the facility.

 

Coaching: Excessive coaching during live play will result in warnings, then point penalties

Game Day Procedures

Check-In (6:45 PM):

  • Verify player registration and payment
  • Receive court assignment

Forfeits:

  • Teams not ready within 5 minutes of start time forfeit
  • Late arrival penalties: 3 points per minute to the opponent

What to Bring:

  • Team jersey (provided by FBC)
  • Athletic shoes and appropriate attire
  • No jewelry allowed

Playoffs & Standings

Regular Season:

  • Win = 2 points
  • Loss = 0 points
  • Tiebreaker: Head-to-head, then point differential

Playoffs:
 The top 4 teams from each division qualify. Double elimination means you must lose twice to be knocked out. Winners Bracket losers drop to the Losers Bracket for a second chance. The Grand Final pits the Winners Bracket champion against the Losers Bracket champion — if the Losers Bracket team wins, a reset game determines the champion.

  • All referee decisions are final
  • FBC Athletics reserves the right to modify schedules due to unforeseen circumstances
  • Parents/guardians must remain on-site during games
